I think you're missing the point. The beauty industry makes billions, playing on the desire of women to be beautiful. It has nothing to do with other people being comfortable with us. It has everything to do with drawing male attention to us, with wanting to be told one is beautiful.

Read any romance, and the woman is always beautiful, and if she is not, then the man finds her beautiful. It is the dream of every woman, it seems, to be beautiful.

I would love to know why. I was born beautiful. So was my mother. My sister was born attractive. In no way were our faces supposed to tell people in what state of health we were in, or that we needed help, etc.
