I think you 're wrong about that. Nobody's freedom is taken away from them. They are free to buy what food they like. They are free to talk to whom they like. They are free to have sex with anyone they like. They are free to travel to where they like. They are free to spend their money where they like.
How are they not free?
Nobody in this world is free to do exactly what they like. We're not allowed to steal, murder, rape, leave our car parked in the middle of the road, go through a red light, spew waste into drinking water, whatever.
Nobody is in charge of their own destiny. That is absurd. One is born in a particular country with the particular DNA that one inherited from one's parents. One is limited by the weather, natural events, and cycles that are far out of our control. We actually have very little control over our own destiny. At any given moment, you can find yourself with cancer, or you can be in the way of a tsunami.
An economic system that allows for everybody to have what they need works fine. The only people who object to it are those evil twits who want to have power over others.
You might consider what I say impractical. Did you notice that the latest headlines in the Guardian was that someone suggested that we eradicate all cars? It's coming. I'm generally a decade ahead in what I say.
