I think what puts me off about the context is the topics. They're all designed for people to write about navel gazing and the meaning of life, and that bores the hell out of me. I also don't think that's what good writing is about - despite the literary establishment teaching that it is for the past half century.

Fortunately, literary publishers are finally realizing that the stuff doesn't sell, so maybe it will go out of fashion. Hope so.
