I think we're talking about different things. I don't believe in giving people advice.
I'm talking about the fact that when people lie, and it's an obvious lie, the way to expose it is through questioning. People talk themselves into a corner.
Also, when people tell you something rediculous like "Covid is a hoax," I will keep asking them questions until they talk themselves into a corner.
An opinion is a statement that is derived through logic from fact. It is an educated deduction, and there is a line of reasoning that leads from the fact to the conclusion. It is an extrapolation. It isn't the drivel coming out of one's mouth because one has heard someone else say it or read it on a facebook stream.
