I think there are probably reasons for Segal not being welcome. They are as follows.
1. Genocide has a very definite legal definition, as defined by the U.N. It is not related to the number of people killed. Israel is not guilty of genocide, but Hamas is, and the penny is slowly dropping.
2. The United Nations confirmed some time ago, when the media was going wild about 25,000 people being killed, mostly women and children, that it wasn't true. At the time, they said that 15,000 had been killed in total. It now also emerges that the high rate of women and children being killed slowed down about December, and since then, the vast majority being killed are Hamas soldiers.

3. Prof Segal may be out of touch with what he calls genocide. In fact, I know he is. My late father was a holocaust survivor, and I grew up in the aftermath of WWII where the Nuremberg trials were an ongoing thing. I am shocked that he does not understand the difference between the casualties of war and genocide.
4. I think there may be other reasons for income dropping. A few years ago, I wrote an article with 25,000 reads. It earned $2300. I recently wrote an article with 28,000 reads (still climbing), and it now close to $800. There are other factors at play. One of them is that algorithms constantly change. Medium has been experimenting with algorithms and earnings, and keeping in mind that after a dozen years, they are finally in the black, I think it's possible that they may have hit the right formula.
5. I have spent 40 years of my life in Africa. I know what starvation looks like. People are mere walking skeletons. They can hardly move. This is what starving people look like.
I have yet to see a picture of anyone starving in Gaza. It's called gaslighting the world in order to turn the world against Israel. This does not mean that I agree with Israeli policies. I don't. However, there is no genocide. and there are no starving people.
Right now, the families and freed hostages are preparing to sue UNWRA for $100 billion for what happened. They have just cause. These hostages were treated horrifically, with medical evidence taken afterwards, and they were held captive in the homes of civilians, some who are staff of UNWRA. These are the people far too many are listening to.
The war in Gaza is about to wrap up. The tunnels have been destroyed, and the major part of Hamas has been disabled. Their weapons have also been sufficiently demolished. Unfortunately, all the hostages have not been found.
The unfortunate part is that there is now no way that Israel will agree to Gaza or Palestine becoming a state. They will now administer Gaza and they will ask the various clan families to govern. There is also probably a major war approaching, in which the USA and many other western powers will support Israel.
While this may not be the choice of many, in the EU there is a massive turn towards the right and far right, and it has to do with the Middle Eastern culture which is responsible for 70% or 80% of the crime.
I have no idea how this is going to turn out, but I hope it doesn't end in nuclear war. Then, we can all say goodbye to our lives.
