I think the USA was always an outlier. It never developed in the same way as other first world nations. It became powerful - but not humane. It never provided the services to its citizens that other nations provided.

I don't know what is going to happen to France, but most people on this side of the pond have had enough. They finally understand something that South Africans could never explain to them.
