I think the other expectation here is unrealistic. People inherit genes, and even if there were better resources available to everybody, people with better abilities than others will still be higher on the pecking order.

I don't see, for instance, how a guy who is 4'1 would be accepted as a basket ball player in a team of guys who vary between 6'2" and 6'7".

Sometimes people just have to accept that the hand that fate dealt them is the one we have to play.
