I think the first thing you have to learn is what readers read. I did not write this article, but it gives some excellent articles on Medium – not about writing – but it highlights the best articles on Medium for that particular period.

This is what professional writers write, and this is what readers read. For your information, I have been published for 60 years, on three continents, and earn a living writing on Medium.

Here’s something else you need to consider. Anyone who is teaching you how to write on Medium isn’t earning an income as a writer. They are earning an income as a teacher, and anyone who teaches writing is NOT a writer. Otherwise, they would be writing.

Sharing your work on social media will not get your readers. You will get readers when you write about powerful topics – not mental health or self-help or learning how to write. Your powerful articles are about world events, politics, the economy, starvation, inventions, other countries, etc.
