I think it's correct that there is a certain profile for winners (and I don't fit it either). The entire thing about being a writer is that we say things that other people don't - so we are often politically incorrect. And people who want winners, in some way want those winners to represent the publication, and, of course, people who are politically not correct don't actually represent a company well. And, of course, one doesn't stand a chance of winning, so why bother.
