I think fiction is the wrong place to learn psychology and philosophy. I have read at least 600 psychology, neurlogy, self-help, philosophy books. I did that over a period of 10 years, completely absorbed in them.
I also think.
The fact that I prefer escapist fiction in no ways means that I am insensitive or ignorant or humanity.
I don't think literary fiction is a great place to absorb these things.
I loved the rhyme in poetry. Modern poetry leaves me cold. Why? Because I already have experienced all the hell there is in life. I don't need someone else to explain feelings and perspectives to me. And without rhyme and rhythm, I find it is just prose divided into lines.
