I think capitalism worked well enough in the 50s and 60s when it was regulated, and certainly, deregulation has been a disaster.

However, I do not think we can go on producing simply for the sake of profit. We need to consider that the earth's resources are finite, that the population continues to grow, that our eco-system is being destroyed, etc.
