I take immense pleasure in telling people I'm poor. I take even more pleasure in telling people I'm a loser. I fit those definitions all the way. Then I watch them respond. The people who are still speaking to me 10 minutes later or 10 days later are the ones worth investing in.
My daughter shared this with me yesterday - a year after I rescued her from the USA, she is finally able to free herself from the way it made her feel.
