I Have Some Questions for Trump
Some things just don’t sound right. Unintended consequences and all that.
I always thought that the reason Americans paid so much for their drugs and various forms of medication was because drug companies could get away with it. It fitted into the neoliberal creed of ‘Charge what the market will bear.’
Take, for example, the medication for which my daughter paid $400 per month for in the States but paid $11 per month for the exact same brand and dosage in Ireland. Also understand that the pharmaceutical company is still making a profit out of the much lower price.
I’ve read that 80% of pharmaceuticals are made outside the States, and that virtually all pharmaceutical companies have their headquarters in Ireland. I also googled that, and apparently pharmaceuticals are made in Ireland as well. In addition, India is the world’s major producer of vaccines.
