I have no interest in reading about people's emotional pain. It's a given that we all have it. That's what makes it boring. One has either learnt to deal with it, or one hasn't. If one hasn't, I think one has to deal with it in the way that best suits me. That may well be writing about it.
On occasion, when something really upsets me, I will write about it. In writing about it, I release it and it goes. That's it. I move on.
I'm inclined to disagree that it's only emotional stuff that bonds readers to the writer. For me, it has been my intellect for the past 15 years, with readers following me from site to site. Other than that, in all my years of writing (60 years), I've never written to connect with people emotionally, and on the rare occasion when I share something hurtful in my life, it's over and done with in a day or six. I never hang on to things.
