I have never been aware that trans people are targeted with hate. I do know that trans people are targeting writers who dare to say that a trans woman is not a woman (no womb, no clitoris, still has more testerone than a woman, plus has muscle mass of man, etc.)
I, personally, tend to see all people as human. However, it's also true that unless people share my values (atheist, progressive, humanist, etc.) I'm unlikely to want to be in their company. In the past, I have been accused of being anything from antsemitic (I'm technically Jewish) to racist. That there might be other reasons for my disinclination to want to develop a friendship is difficult when someone cannot see beyond their own hurt.
I think it's true that there is a sector of humanity that belittles others in order to feel bettter about themselves or to elevate their status. I also think people prefer to be with people who are like them. (I'm no different.)
My policy is live and let live. It's very simple, but because of the need of so many to deal with their own inadequacy, it's not simple for them.
