I have absolutely no idea what countries you lived in, but you clearly don't know the difference between a visa and immigration. If you are an immigrant, you have exactly the same rights as the locals, and nobody can kick you out.

It is sheer madness moving to another country on a visa. As for expats been strange, perhaps you mean Americans, but I have lived in many countries and never found that.
