I had a classical education. Until the late 60s, most countries had classical education systems. In the classical education system, you spent the first 6 or 7 years acquiring knowledge - by rote. After that, for the next 5 years, you learnt to dissect and examine information, and to draw conclusions from the data you had.

It would be impossible to evaluate information if one didn't have a basis against which to compare it.
