I guess if the US or Nato had military bases in Ukraine, I might have wondered, but even if they did, they would have been protective, not invasive.
That said, I took a look to see where NATO military bases were. Here they are.

Russia is corrupt - having given all the state treasure after the break up to individuals who got very rich. She also failed economically, but that was not because of the west. Estonia, at the time of the split with the USSR, had no modern tech, no phone system, and a 10,000 inflation rate. It took her 20 years to become a very successful first wold nation.
So you and I see things differently.
With regard to Islam, I wonder what it is you know about it. Have you read the Koran? It is frightening what it tells Muslims to do. Did you know that there are 1.5 billions on earth, and 25% of them are Jihadi? In every country where there are large numbers, they begin to attack the host country, so, again, you and I differ. I don't find it a religion of peace at all.
