More than half a century ago, my late father told me that in order to civilization to get to the level it was, it needed billions of people. Without that number of human beings, things cannot be built and run. Also, once the electricity grid goes down, and it will keep going down as a result of fires, floods, winds, etc., civilisation is gone. It takes tremendous energy to run our world.

The people may escape with their lives, but they will be living back in the 18th or 19th century. And their world, as a result of climatic conditions, will not be easy. Growing food will become a nightmare.
