I don’t think ethics have anything to do with compassion. My ethics are most certainly not derived from compassion. Ethics are rules that that are accepted by the community as being for the greatest good (survival) of the community, for the greatest number for the longest period of time.

One doesn’t feel compassion for a group. These rules are implemented in order to force people to behave in a certain way so that they don’t damage the survival of the crowd.

Having read the holy books of Judaism, Islam, Christianity from cover to cover, I can assure you that the rules are very different — especially when it comes to Asian religions.
