I don't know how old you are, but I grew up in what is called a mixed economy in the 50s and 60s. Every first world country in the world had it. Then, along came Reagan and Thatcher and introduced Laissez faire capitalism.
Since then, life has been a nightmare for anyone who doesnb't own a business. And services have grown increasingly expensive and worse by the minute.
I have lived in social housing (not in America) and it was far better than anything private landlords provided. I loathe dealing with private landlords - they are takers in every sense of the word. They keep your deposit, and it is always touch and go if you get it back.

Today, there was a poll in the UK. 65% of British citizens think that bosses shouldn't earn more than 10 times what the guy at the bottom earns.
Profit should be abolished.
