I don't believe we should be obese, but I sure as hell see this as a social problem not a personal life choice. America makes you eat.

The first time, after I arrived in the States, someone took my daughter and myself out to a meal, when the food arrived - one plate put in front of me, I gasped. "That's a helluve lot of food for three of us," I said.

My host said, "That's not for the three of us - that's for you."

It's really difficult to live in both the UK and the US without gaining weight. Eating out is a thing, and the food we get fed is massively unhealthy and fattening. Excessive stress also drives the desire to eat.

People shouldn't be blamed for doing what they can to cope with the horrific stress we live under. Government needs to legislate better working hours, better labor laws, and provide a UB I to all people.
