I don't believe I said that equal outcome should be the objective, and I fully concur that equal opportunity should be the goal.
I am not a Democrat. I'm not even American. I'm a progressive, and I have been a progressive since 1966.
They are not the same things. Progressives believe in mixed economies - where business is capitalist but government has a strong socialist bent. This was the way of western governments in the 50s and 60s.
I'm one of those people who have all those fabulous genes - genius, looks, the super gene, etc. I am NOT driven by reward. I am driven by the greater good.
That's primarily because I see outcomes that other people don't.
Our world is a mess because we reward people who cheat, underpay their workers, and who overcharge and mislead consumers to such an extent that we , poverty, obesity, mental distress, and more. Americans living pay check to pay check, brankruptsies caused by medical emergencies, Africa raped of its resources, climate change as a result of massive toxic pollution due to manufacturing, and more. Business should not be rewarded, and that is primarily what this conversation is about.
I don't recall any scientists, medical workers, etc. being give or driven by massive rewards. Without them, the world will fall to pieces. Sports people contribute nothing to this world. Nor do the billionaires. They are busy destroying ti.
There is nothing wise or benevolent about the people who get massive rewards. The people who really do the giving and helping are not being given massive rewards.
To finish, I never said anything about equal outcomes - I believe I was referring to the massive wealth of billionaires, etc. They should be stripped of it. They do more harm than good, and the people who do the real work get ordinary salaries.
