I didn't. It just came naturally. I was published at about 10 years old and editors always accepted my submissions. My first rejection was when I was 38 years old, and the editor of a famous women's magazine called me personally to say that the writing was of a quality she seldom saw, and she didn't have the heart to send me a routine rejection letter. She said she rejected it because they had too many articles on that topic already.
