I did some digging a while ago. Here's the deal with Israel/America. America wants to keep the military complex alive, and without customers, that is not possible. So they give Israel $3 billion for 10 years, on the condition that Israel buys from the military complex. In return, apart from keeping the military complex going, they have access to Israeli military tech which is more advanced than American.

While I am in favour of a welfare state, I am not in favour of letting the inept run a country.
