I can see no parallels in your statement that WWII might have been prevented if the west had opposed the invasion of Czechoslovakia. Hitler did not invade Czechoslovakia. In the Munich agreement in 1938, between the British Empire, France, Italy, and Germany, Germany annexed a small part of Czechoslovakia called Sudentenland. It was probably agreed to because the people of Sudentenland were German speaking.
Also, why not claim that the annexation of Austria should have been opposed?
WWII started six months after the annexation of Sudentenland - in September, 1939 with Hitler's invasion of Poland.
What am I missing?
That said, I can see no correlation.
There were no nuclear weapons in existence at the time of Hitler's annexation of Czechoslovakia. So there was no threat to the annihilation of the planet. Nor would the weapons used in those times have had such a negative impact on climate change.
What Putin wants is to reclaim Ukraine which as a part of Russia for 300 years, and that is why he invaded. He wants to restore the Russian Empire.

He sees himself proclaimed as the next Tzar, and he moved into the palace of the Tzar a few years back. Putin, in my opinion, is crazy, and he is crazy enough to use nuclear weapons if he does not win Ukraine. The Russian Empire comprised Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. It also included current-day Finland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, parts of Poland, Ukraine and Belarus.
The west has been in a weak place with regard to the invasion of Ukraine. It was not playing from a point of strength.
Zelensky was continually warned by the west that Russia was planning to invade, but he was in denial. American diplomats warned Russia not to, but Putin denied it was going to happen.
Because Biden did not want to trigger WWIII, which is what would have happened if NATO got involved, only weapons and money was sent. A rose by any other name. It was a stupid decision. Ukraine is not a member of NATO.
However, presuming that Poland was next in line, Poland is a member of NATO, and therefore the west would have been legally and politically savvy in immediately mobilizing troops to Poland's borders. That would have meant that Putin could not just walk in. NATO could have surrounded Russia by NOT going to war - just mobilizing troops to all NATO countries which border Russia.
This half-arsed, proxy war between the West and Ukraine is going nowhere.
Sometimes you have to choose your battles to win the war.
As it is, Russia will not attempt to go into any of the other countries until about 2027/8. There are two reasons for that. The first is that Russia is militarily depleted and is currently being re-armed by China. According to international intelligence, that will take three years.
At that point, China will annex Taiwan, and if NATO attacks, then China, Russia, North Korea, and Iran will go to war with NATO.
WWIII.
Because the west is squandering its weapons and money on a proxy war with Russia, by the time WWIII starts, it will be left depleted. That is especially so because Trump will try to prevent WWIII by pandering to Russia. Trump may also let China have Taiwan, in exchange for preventing WWIII.
Being in that proxy war will not prevent Russia from taking what it wants. On the other hand, had the west let Ukraine go and mobilized along Russia's borders in NATO countries, it would have prevented Russia from invading further, plus allowed a far better use of the west's military in preparation for WWIII in 2027/2028.
That's the way I read it.
Sorry you don't agree.
