I am familiar with your points - I disagree.

To draw an analogy, there was a point when it was thought impossible to run the four minute mile, and then someone did it, and then many people did it.

There are many things that are thought to be impossible, and then they are done. That does not mean that everything that is thought impossible is now possible.

Mankind will never grow wings. It is highly unlikely he will rise from the dead.

And, yes, certain things have been accomplished with space research. That does not mean that other stuff will be.
