I absolutely and uIn fatterly only make friends with people like me. It's impossible for me to be friends with a bible punching Christian when I'm a hardcore atheiest. It's impossible for me to be friends with a far right QAnon Insurrectionist when I'm a progressive. It's impossible for me to be friends with a billionaire oil company owner when I'm seriously concerned about climate change.

I can certainly understand that all these people have as much right to have a place on this planet as I have. I am totally fine with everybody being treated equitably and fairly. In fact, that's exactly why I'm a progressive and humanity.

Human rights (for those countries that have them) ensure that we have the right of assoication, and with that right of association comes the right not to associate with those we will clash with.

Of course, lots of people reject me. I have been rejected all my life. I don't care. People have just as much moral right to reject me as I have to reject them.

This is part of emotional matuirty - seeing it both ways.
