How so? Growing up in South Africa, where freedom was not a big thing, as we were under a fundamentalist religious government, we could still have our own apartments.

No other country has the hangups that Americans have about individualism, freedom, and independence, and all the countries I have lived and worked in, we could still afford to have our own apartments. And we did. I left home when I was 18 or 19.
