How is colonialism responsible for a worst state of affairs than the one that was previously?

Have you ever lived in a country where there is human sacrifice, cannibalism, where murder is common and acceptable, where shamans cut off sex parts so that others can have a better sex life?

Why is that a better state to exist than western civilization?

I'm asking before I was born and bred in Africa.
