Holy shit. I guess nobody told you never to use vanity publishers.
Here's my story.
I have never bothered to find followers. I have a Google panel which I have no idea why Google gave me. My name is in predictive text, which means you type 'Tessa Schl.." and my name automatically pops up.
I have no idea how many books I've sold over the years, and I don't care.
I have never used social media or anything else to find followers. I don't comment on people's posts in order to get readers. I have, in short, never spent a cent on promoting my books. I design my own covers, and I do my own editing. And I don't read my reviews.
I don't have a blog, because I don't like blogs. I write on content sites.

I'm suggesting that if you had done nothing, you'd have had the same results that you currently have.
Next time, do what Wayne Dyer did. He simply bought up all his own books over a two week period and thus got onto the New York Times Bestselling list. So give some money to everybody you know, and ask them to buy the book over a certain period. That will push you up into bestselling status.
I don't have the kind of money you were willing to spend on promotion. Then, again, I don't really care about being an author or a writer. This is simply the way I earn my living. If I could get away with being anonymous, I would.
