Have you ever seen a brilliant writer break the rules? Who?

I started reading at 7 years old, and within a year, I was reading 2 books a day during shool semesters and 4 during vacation time. Since then, I've been reading one book a day. I'll be 70 next week. I read for at least 5 hours every day of my life.

I have never encountered any writer that breaks the rules.

I would, however, be interested in examples. I believe that the only people who speak about breaking the rules are those who use that sentence to excuse their very bad writing. :)
