The legal owner of the places in Sheik Jarah are the people who have lived there since 1948. The United Nations partitioned Jerusalem, and Eastern Jerusalem was given to the Palestinians. In return, the Israelis got western Jerusalem.

Excuse the epithets, but it's sheer fucking bullshit that because Jews owned the buildings before 1948, they're now entitled to get them back. If that is the case, I suggest that all the people who are living in buildings that used to belong to Palestine prior to 1948 also give it back.
