Forty years ago, I was a very gracious person.

Twenty five years ago, I started seeing that my graciousness was costing me dealy.

Six or seven years ago, I realized that being polite was destroying the world because bullies and tyrants and evil people took advantage of those who were polite and gracious.

As I used to be an evangelical Christian once, I know that appealing to bible verses when it goes against the doctrine goes exactly nowhere.

The problem with mentioning bible verses is that some of us immediately discredit the writer, and I confess to being one of those.
