For whatever reason, neither me, my brother, or my sister grew up with gender roles. I don't think that was intentional. It's just that neither of our parents were interested in parenting. Nor was there television, but we did have radio and magazines.

I have absolutely no recollection whatsoever of being told or influenced that I must act in this way, and I have never seen myself as a woman first and a human second. It has always been a human first, and totally insignificant whether I'm a woman or a man.
