For the first three months, I took home between $1 and $10, then for the next nine months, I earned between $45 and $65. I reached about 660 followers by the end of my first year, and I was going to give up.
I was writing 3 high quality articles each day. Some of those articles had been on the top of Google for 6 or 7 years, so it wasn't that they were bad articles.
Then I moved countries, and I wrote an article about being sick to death of articles about how to write and self-help, and said that I muted all authors that did that. That was my first break through article. I reached $116 plus I won the first of the $500 prizes (April last year).
The next month, I had a viral article (which means you have more than 40K views. That happened because my article was picked up by the internation press. I picked up 800 new followers in 10 days, won the second $500 (I won all four) and made $4300 that month.
Since then, I have earned a reasonable amount - counting Ko-fi and Patreon. That said, I have had some exceptionally generous donations from one person, and that has made all the difference.
Outside of that, I make just over 4 figures - everything combined.
