Feelings have nothing to do with ethics. Empathy is a feeling not an ethic. I have written about this extensively.

An ethic is a rule that has evolved over a period of time that protects the community as a whole. Morals are rules that individuals follow for their own well being. They're personal. Ethics are rules that support the community - they are rules for the greatest good for the greater number for the longest period of time.

Liberals are misinformed when they think feelings have anything to do with ethics.
