I think the thing that puts me off Substack is that it doesn't have an algorithm for readers and it doesn't pay.

There is no way in hell that I have the belief that people will pay me for a newsletter. On top of that, I don't want to produce one because it ties me into a timescale where I actually have to produce one.

I like to work on donations in my own time, and that is not something that Substack produces.
