Edward, one more thing. Are you sure you actually know what capitalism and socialism is?

Technically, America is also socialist. To be socialist just means that the government uses the taxes of the people to provide services or runs some or all of the industry.

The American government uses the taxes of the people to pay a military, fund NASA, fund DARPA, gives subsidies to oil, agriculture, etc, that is all socialism.

Germany is socialist. Australia is socialist. Portugal is socialist.

Of course, there is also democratic socialism in which the people decide what the taxes are to be spent on, and then there's a sort of fascist socialism in which the government decides what the taxes are to be paid on.

I think you confuse a welfare society with socialism. For the record, both Portugal and Germany are welfare societies. The UK used to be, but not so much anymore.

Might I ask you why it is okay for the American government to pay subsidies to business but not to assist people ins aving their lives. Currently, America pays $1200 BILLION each year in subsidies to various businessess and corporations.

For the record, just to clarify what communism is, it is when there is no government, and all production is owned by groups of people. The American co-op business model is an example of communism. Do you have a problem with it?
