Doesn't it depend on the individual? My sister, for instance, just does ballet exercises every morning. At 69, she can still kick the arse out of any 16 year old. She tried Pilates and yoga, and just got bored.
If you said exercise, I would agree, yes, it's essential.
As for meditation, brain entrainment is even better. It's faster. I first started using that 30 years ago, and I know from being a control for UCSD that my brain is, apparently, exceptionally still.
You've selected two methods that work specifically for you. Don't you thinkt hat so long as the methodologies deliver flexibility and peace, they're okay?
