Does Common Sense Mean One is On the Right?

And does elitism have a value after all?

My Facebook picture. :)

I never foresaw the day I would write an article like this. For virtually my entire life I’ve seen all people as having worth, and as someone who believed in a mixed economy, and I’ve not had much time for the super wealthy, the druggies, the war-mongering, and all sorts of people. In one way, you could say that I’m economically on the left and in terms of ethics, I lean towards the right.

Economically, I’ve always believed we pay taxes to the government in order for government to use that money to provide the services we need in order to flourish. We need schools to teach whatever level of skills we are able to achieve. That would mean there are schools that provide us with the ability to learn trades, arts, sciences, and other varieties of knowledge and expertise.

I have believed that government needs to provide hospitals, communications (phones and wi-fi), energy (electricity and gas), good public transport like bullet trains, and all the basics that are required for us, we-the-people, to be able to pick ourselves up by the bootstraps to survive (to coin a phrase). I’m not asking them to provide a pay check. I’m asking them to provide the infrastructure we need to help ourselves.
