Dan, if you want to make money on Medium, you have to go to the HELP section and learn how to format your articles. If you don't format your articles correctly, the algorithm will kick your article out, and the editors won't even read it.

Next, you're blogging - nor writing what used to be known as feature articles. The articles that earn income are the articles - not the blogs.

Blogging used to be a big thing in the 90s when people didn't know much about the inner processes and the lives of other people. Since then, however, there are 4.5 million published every single day on the web. They don't make money, unless the writer is famous and people want to know about them.

You need to write what people want to read. And that's very much a hit and miss affair. But with few exceptions, it's not about our personal lives.

Views aren't important. Reads are. One of my articles had 40,000 minutes one day. That was a lot, and it has only happened to me once. It was on a topic that a lot of people felt very intensely about.

If comments are added to the reading time on my stats (which are in the publication section), then I have an even more hazy idea of what is earning and what is not.

Hope that helps.
