Brenda, no. Other English speaking countries don't do this. I've lived in quite a few of them, and they most certainly don't.

Americans no longer have grammar as part of their curriculum, and anyone can be on TV. In the UK, one only gets to be on TV iif one speaks English in a certain way, e.g. Received English.
