Attacking People When You Can’t Fault Their Reasoning
One of my readers said he went through 1000 comments and 51% were attacks on the writer.
I remembered the comment this morning when I commented on an article by a writer who claimed she should be able to say things like ‘men are rapists’ or ‘men are misogynists.’ She maintained that one shouldn’t have to say that ‘some men are.’
To cut a long story short, I said that it would be the same as my saying that women were jealous gossips, awful mothers, and a few more things simply because I had some unpleasant experiences with some women.
She then told me that I was always boasting what a brilliant writer I was, and that the reason the world was in a mess like it was, was because of women like me.
Forgive me if I don’t see the connection between my comments and the response of the writer. I answered her, pointing out several things, then just blocked her because, clearly, she had issues (my opinion).
I do want to clarify something — about my claim that I tell people that I’m an excellent writer. I never have. At times, when people have told me that I’m a bad writer because they can’t fault my reasoning, I’ve provided evidence of what other people think. That’s about it.
