As someone who has liveed in Africa, Europe, the UK, and America, let me tell you what I see.
1. I see a bunch of people that are delusional about reality. Americans are brainwashed from birth that they can do whatever they like if only they believe and work hard.
2. Then when they can't, and they begin to hear narratives by others that it's someone else's fault, they believe that. Americans are the most brainwashed people on earth. You cannot reason with them. They get insulted if you tell them that they live in a dog-eat-dog country. Survival stress is horrendous as a result of basing their actions on myths that don't work.
3. The excessive junk and huge portions of food that Americans eat is destroying not only bodies but minds. When I first came to the States and saw the number of people on medication, I couldn't believe my eyes. Then, again, the first time I saw a plate of food, I exclaimed, "OMG - that is a lot of food for the three of us." I was then told that was just for me. I was gobsmacked.
4. Human beings have evolved with different brain structures. Liberals and conservatives have different brain structures. No doubt each serves a purpose. Conservatives, however, operate from the amygdala (the primitive brain which operates on danger and fear) while the liberal brain uses the grey matter. So they are more reasoned. In the current situation where wealth is gravitating upwards as a result of neoliberalism, that means conservatives are a very frightened and traumatized people.
5. Mental illness, while it has a genetic predisposition, is triggered by excessive stress. Survival stress, an over-the-top competitive economy means people are suffering incredible stress. Ergo, 50% of Americans are mentally ill at any given time. This does not make for sane decisions.
These are all contributing factors to what is happening in the States. The same thing is happening in the UK.)
I don't pray because I'm an atheist, but I sure as hell hope that that progressives and dems can change the direction. Too many people are suffering.
