And you, my sweet, are American, writing something that applies is looked at through the eyes of individualism.

Regardless of the fact that all people might be different in small things, the very powerful advertising industry uses these demographics precisely because they work.

Each generation is exposed to certain news items, certain ideas, etc. and this makes them think, more or less, the same way.

For instance, I was stunned to find that, in America, when I arrived in 2003, that the biggest single issue was abortion - pro or against. In most of the countries I've lived in, it's taken for granted.

That said, baby boomers definitely knew about climate change by the time they were 20 years old. It would have been difficult to miss it. There were several best selling books, and they did precisely nothing about it.

They went on trading, following their dreams, making money, making more and more phones, building homes with aircon, etc. This is all very much part of the American patterning.

Americans use more energy per capita than any other nation in the world. You can't compare China for two reasons. The first is that they have four times the number of people, and the second is that most of what they make goes to America.

For instance, China produces 700 million pairs of jeans (which destroys/poisons water and earth), and of that number, 350 million goes to the States.

I think you're looking at a very limited picture. I am looking at the big picture. And I have no time for individualism.
