And the amount of money spent on the translations are not worth the return. There are 19,000 Brits in Japan, and 63,000 Americans in Japan. On the other hand, there are 763,000 Chinese people in Japan, and a total of 3 million Asians living in Japan. There are 11,000 Africans living in Japan. There are some 3000 languages in Africa. So, no, there are not millions of English speaking people in Japan, who will make it financially worthwile to invest in translation services.

I live globally. In Africa, we all speak two or three languages. My late German father spoke 11. In both Portuagal and Germany, there is tremendous resentment against people who live in those countries, but don't speak the language.

There are 42 million Spanish speakers in the USA. That's about 15%. Two percent of people living in Japan are Americans. If corporations in America don't find ot profitable or necessary to have a transcription service for Spanish speaking people in America, it is doubtful that Japanese corporations will find it profitable in Japan.
