Ethics are rules that communities live by to ensure the survival and well being of the community. Anything that, collectively, destroys the greater good is unethical.

One cannot be self-interedted and ethical at the same time. Ethics are community based. One has to put the well-being of the community ahead of one's own personal good. Very Un-american, I can assure you.
