Research, for years now, has indicated that cooperation works far more effectively than competition. In small things, competition works. As soon as it becomes serious, competition fails. That's because people are not operating at their best when it's competitive. The human brain cannot do math under pressure.

But a new writer isn't going to win this competition, are they?
