America has been an oligarchy for about 20 years. I remember when Princeton announced that it was. History never quite repeats itself in the same way.

My point was that the writer (and you) appear to have no idea why Trump won. Part of tgat is because platforms like this one, FB, Threads, Blue Sky, Post forbade opposing opinion.

For instance, when I started pointing out about 2 or 3 years ago that the dems would lose this election if they kept on focussing on the issues they were focussing on, I was told that women would vote against Trump because of abortion, and the Dems would win.

Liberal women were convinced of this.

Trying to tell them that not all women care about abortion (I don't) didn't go anywhere.

I lost count the number of times I told them that Trump would win because of immigration. It didn't help that other issues (civil rights for minorities) were of no concern to the majority.

That's why Trump won.

By the way, I'm German. My late father was living in Berlin during the 30s, a holocaust survivor, and there are some differences in the situation
